Land Rover Series 1 features in Episode 2 of " For the Love of Cars "
The second episode of " For the Love of Cars " has now been run and won on ABC Television, in a very entertaining programme that really exposed this Classic British workhorse for the great vehicle that it was and is.
The show once again revolved around a complete restoration of the car in 8 weeks, and began with the purchase of a base vehicle for the sum of GB£6000 ( AU$ 10,900 ) as a barn find in deepest England. The car in question had been stored for 40 years, and had never been on the road in that time, which was the car's greatest asset, as it was complete and even had the semaphore indicators that came with the Series 1 Land Rover. The car was then completely stripped with a " body off " restoration being undertaken, with all parts needy of work being replaced.
During the show, Philip Glenister also met a very famous Adventure Traveller who had always exclusively used a Land Rover for his travels, as well as some of the original trimmers that sewed together the seats in the Land Rover factory when the cars were being built new. Mr Glenister also got to have some real Trial Action in an open Series 1, as well as having a group of serious Land Rover enthusiasts to come and view the finished restoration, which was extremely well received.
