Ferrari 360 values rise strongly in last 2 years

It is almost amazing to think that the first Ferrari 360 that we bought to export to Australia just 4 short years ago cost us only £23,450 (AU$40,431). We were just commencing an ascerted effort to bring the lowest priced Ferrari " current classic " to many Australians that had previously been asked to pay over $200,000 for a used 360 back in 2010.

We were fortunate enough to have coupled up with a finance company that was experiencing a number of repossessions in 2009 and 2010, many of which were occuring in Ireland at the time. We purchased many cars in this way, and made up the balance of our requirements through private purchasing.

Prices remained reasonable throughout 2010, and rose only fractionally in 2011, as they did during the early part of 2012. Later in 2012 however, a shift occurred for a number of reasons.

Firstly, every time that we called a vendor of a Ferrari 360 to discuss a purchase, we were always told " You must be from Australia, as every call we receive for this car comes from Downunder ".

Secondly, the British economy began to stabilise slightly, and this is where most of our cars had come from.

Thirdly, the 360 was the lowest priced Ferrari that had a " current " look about it, although some considered it to be Ferrari's equivalent of a Porsche Boxster.

During 2012-2013 values rose sharply for these cars, driven by demand from Australia and increased local demand as things improved there. In 2013 one could still find one or two cars at £30-34,000 ( AU$51,724-58,620), although now in 2014, the average price is closer to £46,000 (AU$79,310), which is around double our original investment figure. In fact, there are just 3 cars listed today on www.autotrader.co.uk for less than £44,995, and one of those is an older 1999 car. A 2005 car is shown there for £89,490 ( AU$105,282 ). We should have bought more and left them in the U.K. !.
