Racing up in value

Everyone knows that Lotus's always rise in value, although now it seems that they are really taking off. In a recent list of " Mid-engined sports cars on the rise ", Classic Car Weekly has named not one but two Lotus's as star performers.

The two cars that they have focuused upon are the Esprit Turbo and the Europa, both of which have previously been left slightly behind while the Elan stole the limelight. The Esprit Turbo was always destined for greatness however, because with the engine in the middle, 210 bhp, a 0-100 km/hr acceleration of 5.8 seconds and top speed of 230 km/hr, it still represents awesome value for money. The Europa had just 105bhp, although was still good for 0-100 km/hr in 7 seconds with a maximum speed of 188 km/hr, and the most incredible handling, again courtesy of engine location.

Both cars are simply stunning, and are part of the Lotus revolution that began when the marque re-entered Formula 1. We purchased our first Lotus when the Director was 17 years old, and this was his introduction to real cars.
