The "We should have bought that " list for 2014.

Despite the fact that every single car that we have purchased over the last 5 years has risen very significantly since acquisition, we still managed to miss out on a few Classic Cars last year that we knew would also rise rapidly. Working out which Classic Cars will rise and which will lay dormant is now a very established part of our everyday life, and so the difficult part is acquiring ALL of the additional cars that we know will rise, rather than missing out on the great financial gains from them.

Therefore, we thought we would compile a list of "The ones that got away" in 2014. Here it is :

1) Ford Cortina 1600 E. We saw plenty of these in early 2014 for £3-£4000. Now they are £10-£13,000, and we are sad !!

2) 1978-82 VW Golf Gti. We saw lots of these for £1000-£1500 in late 2013 and into 2014. Now they are £6-£9,000.

3) Lotus Excel. We kept saying "We must buy 2 or 3 of them". That was when they were £2-£4,000 in January,2014, and not at the  £5-£9,000 that they are now 12 months later.

4) Peugeot 205 Gti 1.6. Once again we were "Gonna" buy 2 or 3 of these in February 2014 when they were £1000 or so. Now they are £4- £8,000.

5) MKI Mini Cooper. We kept looking at these little beauties when we could buy them in January, 2014 for £10-£16,000. Now a reasonable one starts at £20,000, and can go to £95,000 for a Works Car.

6) Series 1 Land Rovers. In December last year we could have bought 10 or 12 in Australia for between $500 and $800 for restoration projects. Now, just one month later, we will have to pay $2-3000 for the same unit !!.

The Motto for 2015 will therefore be............... "We should have bought that, and we did".
