The "We should have bought that" list for 2014, Part Two.

January 26, 2015
The

Part Two of the "We should have bought that " list for 2014.

Despite the fact that every single car that we have purchased over the last 5 years has risen very significantly since acquisition, we still managed to miss out on a few Classic Cars last year that we knew would also rise rapidly. Working out which Classic Cars will rise and which will lay dormant is now a very established part of our everyday life, and so the difficult part is acquiring ALL of the additional cars that we know will rise, rather than missing out on the great financial gains from them.

Therefore, we thought we would compile a list of "The ones that got away" in 2014 in two parts. Here is the second part :

1) Ferrari 246 Dino. We felt that these early 1970's cars had topped out in January, 2014 at around £180,000. Now the lowest priced example of these fine Classics is £220,000, with most of the excellent ones at around £325,000.

2) Datsun 240Z. We looked at a few of these fast-appreciating Classic Cars in Australia early last year when we could have purchased a good one for $12-15,000, whereas now we will be paying $25-$27,000 for the same car.

3) Porsche 928. Despite moving loads of 911's and 930 Turbo's in 2014, we had ignored the humble and unloved 928. We saw endless variants for £300-£500 last year, and now cannot find any good examples for less than £5000, with really nice cars going for £12-20,000 !!. They have also risen greatly in Australia.

4) Ferrari 308GT4. We had two clients that were offering us two of these forgotten Ferrari's in February and May last year for under $20,000 each in Sydney. We should have bought both, as they have now doubled in value, being the least expensive Ferrari.

The Motto for 2015 will therefore still definitely be............... "We should have bought that, and we did".
