$170 Million Classic Car collection bought by Jaguar/Land Rover

$170 Million purchase of Classic cars made by Jaguar/Land Rover

A Classic Car collection of 543 cars that was owned by Dr. James Hull has been sold to Jaguar Land Rover, who have purchased the entire collection. The privately owned collection of British Classic Cars was the largest in the world, and has now passed to the Special Operations division of Jaguar and Land Rover, which runs Jaguar Heritage, who are also breathing life into 6 " New " Jaguar E-Type's that are being hand built by Jaguar using the original moulds and parts that were used when the car first rolled off the production line in the 1960's.

These six incredibly accurate units are being hand-built in Browns Lane, and form part of Jaguar's recognition of it's history and heritage. The history of Jaguar is becoming quite important to the brand, and they see the massive acquisition of this 543 car collection as a way to preserve a vast number of British Classic Cars.

Whilst $170 Million is a reasonable sum of money to pay for these cars, they are irreplaceable as a complete collection in one place, and the collection does include some ultra rare Jaguars, such as some alloy-bodied XK120s, a lovely single XKSS, some C-type and D-Type racing cars, as well as eight E-Types and some pre-war SS models.
