Classic and Sports Car Magazine test a Jaguar Mk2 3.8 on sale for GB£52,995 (AU$95,143)

The car in question is a 1963 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 Beacham that has been tested in the September, 2014 edition of Classic and Sports Car Magazine.

The car was originally sold for GB£1557 in the UK, although was sent to New Zealand in 1990 for a restoration, which included a few very minor modifications such as fitting the later front seats.

The bodyshell was found to be completely rot free, with all panels fitting well. Whilst the original colour was gunmetal with a red interior, the new colour of Alfa Rosso red does the car great justice, and the car has the wire wheels to offset the excellent paintwork. The leather interior has been refurbished as has the wood grain dash and door cappings, and all look wonderful.

The four speed manual gearbox has been replaced with a Getrag unit has much stornger sychro hubs whilst still having a great cruising ratio that keeps the engine revs down. With 220 bhp these cars were no slouches, and this one is now exception. The car represents superb buying at GB£52,995, and can be seen in the magazine.

Jaguar Mk2's are available in Australia from $11,000 upwards, although of course having the precise model, engine and transmission combination is essential to realising the value. We offer our Classic Car Wealth Education Training Programmes as a way to learn how to utilise your skills to purchase and resell Jaguar models in Europe.
