by RUSS SMITH for THOROUGHBRED and CLASSIC CARS MAGAZINE | January 23, 2022
UP over 90% for a Cortina, and DOWN 12.5 % for Porsche 930 Turbo's for the year.

As proof that a rising tide lifts all boats, even the Volvo 240 is up 20% across the past quarter.

As we all know, all Collectible Cars rise in value at some point, and so the game is all about grabbing the ones that rise the fastest, by the greatest amount. Resultantly, we purchase all the cars that we know will grow very rapidly in 3-6 months, BEFORE they end up on the list that Thoroughbred and Classic Cars Magazine so dilligently compiles from a huge range of sources.  The data on page 17 of the January, 2022 issue has just hit the shelves, and as always the information is very revealing. Whilst much of Russ Smith's report relates to the United Kingdom market, values have actually risen much, much more rapidly in Australia as well as other countries.

Notably, it is great to see that the Audi Quattro Turbo is experiencing it's third boom (up11%), after flatlining for the past two (2) years, and the Jaguar MKII 3.8 is also going the same way after it's flatline period (up18%).  Naturally, the usual drop from several cars with famous badges has continued as we have spoken of often, with the Porsche 911 Turbo (964) DOWN 10% leading the way, with the Lamborghini 350GT/400 International following close behind, with a DROP of 5.7%. That is why we move these cars onto new custodians..........fast !. Here are a couple of the statistics over the past 3 months, as reported in the magazine :

The rising Collectible Cars

Mazda RX7 Series 1                                                                           Up 94%

Hillman Hunter GLS                                                                          Up 20%

Reliant Scimitar GT SE4                                                                  Up 45%

Volvo 240                                                                                               Up 20%

It is of course too late to capitalise on the values of these cars, as they will now stop growing, and so we move on into the next 84 great Collectible Investment Cars that will boom in 6 months time.
