This article from the very end of last year explains what the Collectors were purchasing throughout 2018.
Yes, as the trend continues, the shift is on as the changing of the guard moves forward. No longer are Collector's purchasing difficult to drive slow cars.
With the stock market crashing, existing property still falling in value, new apartment sales stagnant and the dollar dropping, certain Japanese Collectible cars are one of the only two ways to prosper. The other way is to invest in all of the other Collectible cars that we purchase.
As the Australian apartment crisis deepens, more investors lose their deposits.
Smart investors make smart moves, and one of those moves was to get right out of property just prior to the close of 2017, as we did. Others stayed in, "hoping" that the boom in Sydney and Melbourne prices would somehow continue. It did'nt.
Property was always so easy to buy more of as it is everywhere, and one can always build more, although some such as Opal Towers and Mascot Towers may fall apart and become empty as they have done recently.
In the meantime, the smart money went into Collectible Cars built in limited numbers, where scarcity drives price.
The administrators of Ralan say there will be little chance of investors seeing any return.
A little over 2.5 years ago we acquired several of the previously unloved 450 SLC's for Investor's, and waited.........
Now, the Collector Grade cars are up 160% over that short period of time (This one SOLD 3 days ago for over £32,000, whilst they were £9-12,000 2.5 yrs ago). No other asset class will ever compare with the rise and rise of the correct cars at the correct time. Call us now to secure an investment that outstrips property 8 to 1.
Back in 2016, these 285 km/hr cars were all under £18,000.........
Now, just 2 years on, this 377 bhp very original car sold for $105,000 (£58,500) 2 days ago, giving the owner an 83 % return on investment. We are now onto the next 48 cars that will see even greater growth over the next 12-18 months.
How long before banks will pay you to borrow for you're next Collectible Car ?
Now that we are not too far away from a time when banks will pay you to borrow from them, the global financial landscape will change.
Yes, this 680 bhp ultimate driving machine is sure to attract a great deal of interest
The car will be auctioned at Monterey by RM Sothebys in August, so get you're bidding cards ready.
Not everyone understands why the new kids on the block are becoming iconic.
We have spent a great deal of time travelling to and from Japan, and did indeed import 7,526 vehicles from there over a short 18 month feeding frenzy some time back. When one immerses oneself in the culture that surrounds these cars, the whole reason why certain selected cars are becoming so valuable becomes clear.
Yes, this great car has an interesting history.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed Bonhams Auction went well last weekend.
This Land Rover Defender was one of many successful lots sold on the day, which included a Jaguar XJ220, many race and rally cars, and of course the fast descending Ferrari 328's and 308 GTB's/GTS's, which are now back to 2015 prices, which is why we never hung on to any of these models, or any 1970's Porsche 911 SC's.
As we predicted, the hype over electric "plug-in" cars may well be over.
With the extensive additional infrastructure to charge E/V's Nationwide in any country, as well as low range of these vehicles (still now, after all the advances in battery technology), it is no wonder that the population is left saying "there must be another solution". There is of course, and it is Hydrogen as most people know, due mainly to the fact that it is easy to sell at exisiting fuel stations, and the Hydrogen "fuel cell" is very easy to produce as an on board supply for existing cars and trucks using existing engines. Simple and clean with zero emissions.
How much could you have made in 2018 ?
For details of how a small handful of the Collectible and Classic Cars that we purchased across 2017-2018 performed, take a look at our Blog Article for today.
In alignment with all of our predictions surrounding the Japanese Collectible's market, it's lovely to see that the 200SX is not getting left behind.
Whilst this car is a Collector Grade Spec R, it does highlight why we have invested in so many Japanese cars 22-24 months ago, when we were paying a small fraction of what they are currently selling for.
As Australian property continues the long decline, who will embrace the new asset classes, and who will just sink ?
Just as CommSec's economist Craig James was putting the overall slump in lending for property buying down to "low inflation, lower home prices, an investor strike and competition from other asset classes", evidence of this is found by the rapidly rising price of gold (the safe-haven that many turn to when almost all other investments are crashing), as well as the very well documented and ever rising values of the correct Collectible Cars.
Will the Australian obsession with property be the undoing of many ?
When we mentioned Ford Escort's to propective Investor's 18 months ago, they laughed !.
That said, all of our European Collector friends in the Northern hemisphere have been on about these cars for 2 years now, and when they speak................we listen, and then go and purchase.
Now RS2000's are commanding some major prices, with several sold within European auctions for close to $100,000.
As always, the "right" cars make serious money.
This original and unrestored Jaguar MKII 3.8 MOD classic is a great example of the types of cars that we purchase, being so great in so many ways. This car is a great reflection of where the Collectible Car Industry is placed at this moment.
